Renishaw

Renishaw is one of the core partners of the EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Laser-based Production processes. With a formal strategic alliance since 2006, Renishaw and Heriot-Watt University have grown together in the fields of advanced metrology, photonics and robotics.

During this period, Renishaw have funded >£1M of research activity in the university, and in addition have provided >£1M of equipment for research and teaching.  Current photonics collaborations include projects on laser-based additive manufacturing and laser welding of highly dissimilar materials, such as glass to metal.
