School and college visits

Our UK Recruitment Office is happy to provide information, advice and guidance on all aspects of higher education, from choosing a programme and applying through UCAS, to student finance and student life.

We offer a range of services for teachers and careers advisers, aimed at supporting you and your students through every stage of the transition from school to university.

We can come to your school to give presentations to pupils and/or parents on topics such as:

  • Study skills for higher education
  • The benefits of higher education
  • Choosing and applying to a university
  • Heriot-Watt University and our programmes
  • Student finance
  • Student life

We can also provide information and advice at your parents' evening or career convention, and host campus visits for school and college groups.

Higher education days

Higher education days take place during a fortnight in June, when we invite a number of schools to bring their new S6 pupils onto campus for a day. The day's activities inspire pupils to consider higher education as an option and to  motivate them to work hard and get the most out of S6.

Pupils have the opportunity to ask questions that help them prepare for the transition from school pupil to university student. At the higher education day we offer informal, supportive and interactive introductory sessions on preparing an effective UCAS application, and financing a degree. We also help to lay the groundwork for what pupils will be preparing for in S6. Spending time with current students on tours of the campus, including the halls of residence, also enables pupils to gain first hand experience of what life is like at a university campus.

Please contact the UK Recruitment Office for more information or to book your school a place.
