Our global reach

Heriot-Watt University's roots are in Scotland, but our ambition and reach are truly international. Wherever you choose to study with Heriot-Watt, we will enable you to become a highly employable citizen of the world.

Scotland's international university

The multi-cultural nature of our campuses means that they are diverse and fascinating communities, where students can learn from each other, providing an excellent foundation for a global career. Around one third of our students studying on campus in Scotland come from outside the UK.

Learning partners around the globe

We have an unsurpassed international in-country presence, delivering degree programmes to students in 150 countries around the world. We do this through distance learning programmes with our innovative Approved Learning Partner network, which comprises 15 institutions in 12 countries.

Dubai Campus

In 2005, Heriot-Watt was the first UK university to create an overseas campus in the Dubai International Academic City. Here we educate students from all over the Gulf and beyond, providing a range of programmes specifically tailored to match the demands of the UAE's employment market. Our annual economic impact is valued at £94m (source: Biggar, Independent Economic Consultants).

Our Dubai Campus provides a stimulating but supportive, fully equipped, learning environment to over 2,500 students, and this number is growing year on year.

A new Dubai Campus was opened in September 2011 as part of a £35m development, which extended the campus to accommodate a further 3,000 students and significantly extend the programmes available.

Malaysia Campus

Our doors first opened in Malaysia in January 2013 to students of our globally recognised MBA programme from Edinburgh Business School. Our portfolio of degrees - in key growth sectors for the region - is rapidly expanding. Our purpose-built campus opened in Putrajaya in September 2014.
