Data protection

The UK Data Protection Act 2018 embeds the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) into UK law. Together with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) these apply to all Heriot-Watt University activities that involve using personal data.

Across the Heriot-Watt University Group, we are committed to comply with these laws alongside local data protection legislation. We will ensure that all members of the University community and the public enjoy the same high standards of privacy in their interactions with us wherever in the world they may be.
