Security markings

Researchers have developed a laser-based process for direct writing ‘microsculpting’ of unique security reflective holograms on the surface of metals of high value products to fight counterfeiting. In contrast to current approaches using holographic stickers, the process overcomes the usual tampering problems, and the structures are much more difficult to replicate. Potential applications include jewellery and aerospace components.
