Effectively engaging with students through collaboration, academic representation systems, and collecting feedback on their experiences is a key part of enhancing the quality of learning and teaching.

The following Learning and Teaching Partnership agreement has been created in partnership with our student associations:

The University's student feedback processes are inclusive, providing all Heriot-Watt students across all Schools, modes and locations of delivery, including those studying at Approved Learning Partners (ALPs) and as Independent Distance Learners (IDL), with the opportunity to comment on their experience as a Heriot-Watt student at appropriate junctures.

Student representation

Effective student representation is essential to the University’s quality assurance and enhancement processes.  We work in partnership with our student bodies at all campuses to ensure we have systems in place to support students in their roles as School Officers and Class Reps and to fully involve students in University and School Learning and Teaching Committees. Find out more about academic representation or click on the following links to see how you can get involved at each of our locations:

The University’s approaches to representing postgraduate students who are studying entirely off-campus, either  via independent distance learning or enrolled at an Approved Learning Partner is outlined in its position paper Institutional Approach to the Representation of Independent Distance Learning/PGT Online and Approved Learning Partner Students (PGT).
