Academic Enhancement
Academic Enhancement facilitates the continuous improvement of learning and teaching and of the student learning experience at Heriot-Watt, drawing on good practice from across the University and the wider sector, both nationally and internationally. Working in partnership with colleagues and students across Heriot-Watt’s global campuses, the Academic Enhancement team provides guidance, resources, and strategic support aligned with the University’s Learning and Teaching Strategy 2018–2025 and its Operational Plan.
We contribute to the enhancement of the student learning experience through:
- Supporting the development and implementation of learning, teaching, and assessment policies
- Contributing to the development and operationalisation of institutional strategies for improving the student experience
- Facilitating student engagement and partnership
- Coordinating institutional reviews and thematic enhancement activities
The University Committee for Learning and Teaching (UCLT) oversees strategic learning and teaching matters, including the Learning and Teaching Strategy and the quality of the student experience. For details on UCLT’s Terms of Reference, membership, and handbook, please visit the UCLT webpage.
