Elections for Deans 2017
Voting is now open for the election of Deans of the University.
Two offices are being contested in this election – Dean of the University (Pan-University) and Dean of the University (Science and Engineering).
If you are eligible to vote, please take a few moments to do so – the Deans are elected to give voice to the academic staff in several important fora in the academic governance structures of the University.

The successfully elected candidates will be announced in December 2017 and will take up office from 1 January 2018.
How to Vote
Academic staff who are eligible to vote in this election will receive an email containing a ballot paper. Instructions on voting will be included. Ordinance L1 dictates that a Single Transferable Vote system will be used to determine the outcome.

Votes may be cast between 28 November 2017 and 13 December 2017 by returning completed ballot papers to the Secretariat.
Eligibility to Vote
Eligible academic staff based on any campus may vote in this election.
Dean of the University (Pan-University)
You are eligible to vote for the Dean of the University (Pan-University) if you are a member of academic or research staff with a permanent (i.e. open-ended) appointment in any School; or if you hold a permanent academic appointment but are not formally associated with any School.
NB Colleagues who are ex-officio members of the Senate are not permitted to vote in this election.
Dean of the University (Science and Engineering)
You are eligible to vote for the Dean of the University (Science and Engineering) if you are a member of academic or research staff with a permanent (i.e. open-ended) appointment in the
- School of Engineering and Physical Sciences;
- School of Mathematics and Computer Science;
- the sections of the School of Energy, Geosciences, Infrastructure, and Society that primarily relate to energy/renewables, geoscience, life and earth science.
Academic staff who hold a permanent appointment and teach on science and engineering programmes but who are not formally associated with any School are also eligible to vote.
NB Colleagues who are ex-officio members of the Senate are not permitted to vote in this election.
Please remember that completed ballot papers should be returned to the Secretariat no later than Wednesday 13 December 2017 at 3.00 pm (UK time).
