Outcome of Nov/Dec 2020 Election for Deans

In the election for Dean of the University (Pan-University constituency), only one nomination was received. Dr Amos Haniff was therefore re-elected unopposed. The Senate subsequently confirmed the appointment of Dr Haniff as Dean for the period 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2023.

Three nominations were received for the position of Dean of the University (Science and Engineering constituency). An election contest was therefore required for the position. The election was conducted from 8 December 2020 to 21 December 2020 by the external provider, Civica Election Services, using the single transferable vote electoral system.

At the close of the ballot, Professor Mathini Sellathurai was elected. The Senate has been invited to confirm the appointment of Professor Sellathurai as Dean for the period 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2023.
