The Effect of Waterfront Development in the Emirates of Dubai
The development of waterfronts in urban areas has been a frequent topic of interest in the growth of the economy for most metropolitan cities in the last few decades worldwide. Development pressure which can be traced to technology coupled with the growth of urban population and increased urbanization has forced most cities to shift from water-dependent sectors to non-water dependent sectors such as the development of commercial, residential, and tourist attraction sites.
This research aims to examine the positive and the negative impacts of the development of waterfronts projects in Dubai and design appropriate intervention methods for the future sustainability of the development.
