Why did you decide to come to Heriot-Watt over other places offering similar courses?

I chose Heriot-Watt following recommendation from a friend on the quality of education at the institution, industry focus and flexibility of study. I already had a career in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry spanning over ten years and wanted to keep my career running while upgrading myself technically.

Do you feel your degree has prepared you well for a career?

Yes. The degree has prepared me very well. I had experience in safety management and was looking forward to developing myself in technical safety so I can contribute more to the organisation I work for. I have been able to achieve it, I moved into a safety engineering role in June 2016.

Has your degree programme helped you develop links with industry?

My degree has helped me to develop industry links. I am already processing my GradIOSH, American Society of Safety Engineers and Safety and Reliability Society (SARS) membership registration. This will launch my career in the global space.

What was your experience of studying your degree online via Independent Distance Learning?

Studying via distance learning taught me to remain focused and dedicated to the course. The staff were very accessible and willing to provide guidance. On the job experience in safety came in handy.
