Museum and Archive

The Heritage team is responsible for managing the archive, object and art collections for all five campuses and provides public access to the collections at the Edinburgh and Scottish Borders campuses. The collections at our Edinburgh Campus focus on preserving the corporate memory of the University to support current business needs and to ensure the University's heritage survives for future generations to enjoy. The Textile Collection at the Scottish Borders Campus is an internationally recognised research resource on Scottish textile heritage focusing on woven woollen fabric from southern Scotland.

The service is an Accredited Museum and management of the collections is governed by Collections Management, Collections Development, Data Protection and Records Management Policies. A large part of the collections are now catalogued on our database, many with attached images. Catalogues are also available through the Archives Hub and selected images are available through our Flickr and Facebook pages.

We welcome additional donations to the collections in accordance with our Collections Development Policy. Copy images can be provided on request at a charge and permission to publish can be given subject to copyright.
