Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Raymond Madden as our Associate Head, Malaysia of the School of Social Sciences and Professor of Management Practice and Ethics, beginning 1 August 2021.
Professor Madden brings with him a wealth of experience in both academia and business. He has previously held a number of academic roles, including Director of Research at London Business School; Associate Dean for Cass Business School; and visiting professor at École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris and the International University of Malaya – Wales.
He was also Head of Global Learning for ABN AMRO Bank, Lloyds Banking Group, and Head of Learning and Professional Development for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Most recently, he was the Chief Executive Officer for the Asian Institute of Finance, a think tank established by the Central Bank of Malaysia. He was made an honorary Companion of the Institute of Leadership and Management UK in 2018.
Professor Madden’s passion for teaching and writing industry-based case studies has led to him publishing over 30 cases and numerous applied research reports.
On his appointment, Professor Madden said: “I am very excited to join Heriot-Watt University Malaysia and be a part of a global university with a strong philosophy of positive education for all. I look forward to working with colleagues in Malaysia, Edinburgh, and Dubai to realise our ambitious plans for sustainable growth and business-relevant impact.”
Aside from nurturing the academic pursuits of our students in the School of Social Sciences, Professor Madden also looks forward to enhancing HWUM students’ all-around development through EmPOWER, an innovative programme that encourages students to hone their inter-personal skills.
