A group of Heriot-Watt University graduate rowers recently competed at the annual Head of the River Race (HORR) in London.

The graduates raced for Heart of Scotland Boat Club, a club formed in 2007 for Heriot-Watt University alumni to support the students of Heriot-Watt University Boat Club.

The HORR takes place on the same stretch of the Thames as the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race and features around 350 crews from across the UK and abroad.

Heart of Scotland Boat Club President Michael May said: “Some of us has never rowed together before but it was amazing how we came together as a crew so quickly.”

The Graduates completed the 4.5 mile course in a time of 19 minutes 42 seconds, finishing a credible 118 in a strong field that included a number of international crew.

Official Head of the River Race records show that Heriot-Watt first competed in the race in 1970.
