A Heriot-Watt University music group has travelled more than 740 miles in a round trip to perform to audiences in Iona and Mull.
The events took place in Iona Abbey and Aros Hall in Tobermory and were performed by the Incholm New Music Ensemble.
The events aimed to introduce local audiences to vibrant new music led by a Scottish based set of composers.
It's great to get away and play with this group – showcasing a wealth of talent and delighted audiences in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland.
And the musical events were particularly fitting as the group entertained with music related to the university's Year of the Sea campaign.
The Scottish music compositions included; Wave after Wave/Shores, A Sea Prayer, O Columba and Voyage to Inchcolm.
As Steve King, Director of Music at Heriot-Watt explained, the compositions were inspired by some of the Inchcolm Antiphoner.
He said: “The Inchcolm Antiphoner is famous as a collection of ancient plainchant dedicated to St. Columba and what a fitting tribute to play such music in enchanting and remote venues.
“The music was originally written over 1,000 years ago for the monks of Inchcolm Abbey in the River Forth and the music really came alive in Iona and Mull.
“It's great to get away and play with this group – showcasing a wealth of talent and delighted audiences in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland.”
The music group played Iona Abbey on 28 June followed by Aros Hall in Tobermory on 29 June.
The group then travelled back to Edinburgh for a concert finale at St. Giles Cathedral on 30 June.
