Youngsters across Scotland are being urged to explore the depths of their imagination to produce a new superhero for the seas.
Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, is appealing to primary school children across Scotland to get their artistic caps on and design a new superhero.
The competition is all part of the University’s Year of the Sea campaign – due to kick off in 2018.
And the winning superhero design will get the chance to visit underwater exploration zones at Heriot-Watt. They’ll also receive a special comic featuring their very own superhero design.
The year-long Year of the Seas programme is set to feature events and activities celebrating the wonders of the ocean.
Dr Laura Wicks, Public Engagement Executive at Heriot-Watt University said: “We’re appealing to school children from across Scotland to get their colouring pens out and design their very own unique superhero of the seas.
“During our Year of the Seas campaign, we’ll be diving deep into the depths of the ocean and highlighting new research.
“We’ll also look at the environmental aspects affecting our oceans and capturing the imagination of the public, on the weird and wonderful creatures who lie deep beneath the sea.
“The superhero competition is a fantastic way for your wee ones to get involved in this important project. Their mascot will feature alongside our events and research – inspiring all with the wonder and curiosity of the sea.”
The competition is designed for primary schools, but any primary age child in Scotland can enter. If you have primary school age children please feel free to enter!
