There was a particularly Heriot-Watt feel to the UK finals of the Boys Brigade badminton championships. Not only were the finals held at the Heriot-Watt Edinburgh Campus, and the trophy presented to the winning team, the 65th Edinburgh Company, by Mel Young, Vice-Chair of sportscotland and a Heriot-Watt honorary graduate, but the fathers of all five of the team members work at Heriot-Watt themselves.

Dr Xianwen Kong, lecturer in the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences, is the father of David Kong, Dr Fan Wang, lecturer in the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society, is the father of Neil and Jason Wang, and Professor John Sawkins, Deputy Principal (Learning and Teaching), is the father of Andrew and Peter Sawkins.

Congratulations to all concerned, and we expect Oriam will have its professional eye on the young players.
