In a concerted effort to elevate professional bodies, our Malaysia campus (HWUM) formalised a strategic alliance through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM) at the University’s campus in Putrajaya on 24 January 2024.
The MoU’s main objective is to foster the advancement of the tax profession among HWUM’s Master of Arts (MA) Accounting and Business Finance (ABF) students.
To achieve this, the MoU aims to formally ink the collaboration between the parties to pave the way for the provision of holistic tax practitioner education to HWUM students. CTIM will contribute by delivering guest lectures and career talks on taxation and the profession to HWUM’s students.
As part of the agreement, HWUM students will benefit from exemptions from five (5) CTIM examination papers, including Financial Accounting and Reporting, Personal Taxation, Economics, Business Taxation, and Company and Business Law.
Additionally, to empower the continuous learning journey of active CTIM members, HWUM is offering an exclusive 10% bursary. This financial incentive extends not only to the CTIM members but also to their immediate family members, providing them with the opportunity to pursue Postgraduate Taught (PGT), Undergraduate, or Foundation studies under HWUM's Professional Bodies Bursary Scheme. The eligibility for this exclusive bursary is subject to HWUM’s prevailing terms and conditions.
This partnership holds significant advantages for over 3,800 CTIM members and 100 HWUM ABF students.
The MoU signatories were CTIM President Chow Chee Yen and HWUM Provost and Chief Executive Officer Professor Mushtak Al-Atabi. Also present to witness the signing ceremony were CTIM Executive Director Margaret Kok and HWUM Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Head of Finance Ms Hiew Kwee Sen.
