On Wednesday, 1 November 2023, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) organised the Scholarships Awards Ceremony, which acknowledged over 100 students who earned various scholarships with HWUM. This ceremony sought to recognise the hardworking future talents and their generous sponsors who extended their hands to financially support these students in the name of a positive and good quality education.
The event commenced with a welcoming address and inspiring speech from HWUM Provost and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Mushtak Al-Atabi.
He also graciously welcomed the representatives of the sponsors of these excellent students – Ms Suzanna Kuan, Manager from the Star Education Fund; Ms Liyana Aziz, Director of Human Resources from FWD Takaful; Mr Lock Yew Weng, Corporate Communication & Promotion Manager from Sin Chew Jit Poh Education fund; Ms Ida Thien and Ms Raenuga, CEO and Executive Marketing & Partnership from Yayasan Tunku Abdul Rahman (YTAR); and Linda Goh Sen Fong, Associate Senior Counsel from Yeoh Tiong Lay (YTL) Berhad. Over 150 students, parents, lecturers and staff were present to celebrate this auspicious event.
“Heriot-Watt University is known for the quality of our teaching, research and partnership with our students. We seek to future-proof our students to make leaders and innovators of tomorrow. We are grateful for the continued support of the various sponsors willing to join us in our vision.
“I wish these brilliant scholars luck in their future endeavours as they pursue their respective studies and continue forging their path ahead as part of the HWU community,” Professor Mushtak expressed.
The occasion concluded with a group photo session at The Plaza, followed by light snacks and refreshments.
