  1. COST Action on Megaprojects (The Effective Design and Delivery of Megaprojects in the European Union) (2011-2015), European Science Foundation (ESF). Core member. The project is led by Professor Naomi Brookes, University of Leeds.
  2. Smart Cities Joint Programme (2011- 2015), European Energy Research Alliance (EERA). Academic participant. The project is led by Austrian Institute of Technology under the EU Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan).
  3. Portfolio Management in Mega Industrial Projects (2011-2014), The Tulip Foundation. The project is undertaken by Ehsan Kian Manaesh Rad for PhD research, co-supervised by Professor Neil S Towers at Heriot-Watt University.
  4. Future Infrastructure Forum (FIF) - a network for resilient and sustainable infrastructure (2011-2012), Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). Academic participant. The project is led by Professor Campbell Middleton, University of Cambridge, and Professor Barry Clarke, University of Leeds. FIF partners include academics from 21 top universities and professionals from 25 leading companies and government agencies in the UK, in addition to a number of invited international experts.
  5. Developing a system prototype for rapid and accurate post-disaster damage and needs assessment of built assets (Built Assets DNA) (2012-2013), EPSRC. PI.
  6. An Innovative Theoretical Framework for the Research and Development of Intelligent Buildings (2011), The Royal Society. PI. In collaboration with Professor Manfred Morari at EHT Zurich and Siemens.
  7. Understanding the Interdependencies of Critical Energy and Non-Energy Infrastructures under Extreme Events (2011), Energy Academy, Heriot-Watt University. CI. The project is led by Professor Tooraj Jamasb at Heriot-Watt University.
