Irdawati is an Assistant Professor of Accounting in Edinburgh Business School, Heriot Watt University Malaysia. She teaches undergraduate programme - Business Accounting, Auditing and Assurance and International Accounting subjects. Her research interests are corporate reporting, earnings management, ownership, and corporate governance.

Irdawati holds a doctoral degree in accounting and a chartered member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and a member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Background

Irdawati has over thirteen years of teaching experience, started off as a tutor in Universiti Putra Malaysia, then as a lecturer in UCSI University, Sunway University and now Heriot Watt University Malaysia. She has taught audit, cost accounting, taxation and currently teaching principles of accounting and international accounting.

Prior to teaching, she had gained some industrial experience in Ernst & Young Tax Consultants Sdn Bhd as a senior associate performing tax computation for various companies in various industries and in Bank Negara Malaysia as a senior executive in the Supervision Department, undertaking audit and examination of regulated entities, which included MIMB Investment Bank (now under Hong Leong Capital), AMMerchant (now known as AMInvestment), and MBF Finance.
