Mohammed’s research is strongly qualitative, critical and interdisciplinary. It examines NGO accountability, digitalization, and human rights in postcolonial contexts. Mohammed's research has been published in prestigious peer-reviewed journals such as Accounting, Organisations and Society, British Accounting Review and Benchmarking: An International Journal. Mohammed accepts PhD applications within his areas of interest. He is also open to collaborating with people who specialise in other fields to combine their strengths.

Background

Mohammed joined Heriot-Watt University in August 2021 as an assistant professor of accountancy, having previously held positions at Canterbury Christ Church University and the Islamic University of Gaza. Mohammed holds a PhD in accountancy from Heriot-Watt University, an MSc in accounting and finance (Distinction) from De Montfort University and a BA in accounting and finance (Excellence with Honour) from the Islamic University of Gaza.

Mohammed is an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) member. Before his PhD, Mohammed was an auditor for Ernst and Young (2013-2015) and a regional finance specialist at Education Above All Foundation – Qatar (2015-2019).

Mohammed is a fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy with teaching interests in financial accounting, corporate reporting, international accounting standards and auditing and assurance.
