Background

He is final year PhD student doing his dissertation  “Organizational Values as Underpinning Motives of adopting Sustainable Principles in Hotel industry in Dubai”.

The dissertation discusses the importance of sustainable tourism in the hotel industry, and the need for research into the alignment of organizational values with sustainable tourism practices in hotels. The thesis aims to explore the organisational values as underpinning motives for adopting sustainable practices in the hotel industry in Dubai.

Hotel industry, as a main contributor to tourism (must maintain environmentally responsible standards to ensure that hotels can reduce their negative impact on the environment, while still providing high-quality service to hotel guests. The existing literature suggests that hotels are presenting the focal points for sustainable tourism development, as they have a great impact on the environment through their water consumption, energy consumption, and waste generation (Hossein et all, 2020). Identification and understanding of the hotels’ attitudes towards sustainable tourism and their motivation for implementation of the sustainability practices is thus extremely important.
Beside many factors affect the behavior and decision making of hotel as business entity, literature has shown that organizational values are highly influential on organizational behavior, impacting on performance, organizational culture and leadership, decision making; norms that specify how members should behave and how resources should be allocated.
