Dr. Xihui Chen

Assistant Professor

Dr. Xihui Chen has been an Assistant Professor of Accountancy at Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University since May 2022. She is a visiting professor at the University of Economics in Katowice in Poland, and serves as an external examiner for the University of Northampton and Bloomsbury Institute on the Accounting and Financial Management subject. She is the first Chinese international student president of all UK Students’ Unions.

The focus of her research is interdisciplinary, and she is currently exploring the impact of disruptive technologies and digital transformation on corporate governance and management accounting practices. Xihui has presented her research at many top international conferences (BAM, BAFA, EAA, MFAIC, and ICGS) workshops, and research seminars across the globe. She has been published in leading peer-reviewed international journals and magazines (Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Financial Management Magazine). She is an efficient, organised, and responsible scholar who knows how to make things happen. Xihui will consider research proposals from prospective PhD students with strong research potential that align with her research interests - disruptive technologies for accounting, finance, governance, data analytics and sustainability.

Her interests cover Accounting, Finance and Governance, including Digital Skills/Data, Corporate Governance, Management Accounting, Auditing and Research Methods.
