Graduation checklist

  • It is essential in many cases to apply to graduate before you receive formal notification of your results.  However, if you do not receive notification of your award by 7 June 2024 (23:59 UK Time), you will not graduate this Summer. Your application will automatically become void and you will be refunded for any monies paid.  This also applies to applications to graduate in absentia. 
  • The deadline date for applications is 17 May 2024.  Late applications will not be accepted.
  • Check the date and time of your graduation ceremony and ensure that you arrive at the arrival time stated.
  • Apply to graduate. Applications will open on 16 April 2024.
  • Clear any outstanding debt with the University by 10 May 2024.
  • Please ensure you hire your gown and hood.  Further information is available on our 'Photography and gown hire' webpage. You will not be permitted to graduate in person or be presented to the Chancellor/ Vice-Chancellor without one.
  • A professional photographer will be available with a number of photographic studios to take individual or family photographs. We suggest you come along for your photos before your ceremony if possible, or after the reception.
  • Carefully read the our web page 'On the day' for further information about what happens on the day of your ceremony.
  • Find out what Alumni can offer you after graduation.
  • You can still use the Careers and Graduate Futures Service to get advice and help you with your job hunting for up to two years after graduating.
  • Return all library books prior to the ceremony.
