Graduations are always one of the highlights of our University year.  We are very sad, therefore, to confirm that we have taken the decision to cancel our Summer ceremonies in Scotland, Dubai and Malaysia this year, in light of the ongoing global pandemic and restrictions on public gatherings.

Whilst your photos and memories of the graduation day may therefore be delayed, we are working to ensure that you receive your award certificates on time, as we know for many, your certificate will be needed to secure employment or further study.

Future ceremonies

We are currently making plans for our ceremonies in November and December 2021 to go ahead, subject of course to the Covid-19 situation at that time.   Our expected dates are:

Location Dates
Malaysia 19 - 21 November 2021
Dubai 26 - 29 November 2021
Edinburgh 4, 6 - 10 December 2021

More information about when registration for these ceremonies will be open will be available in September 2021. So we can keep you updated please ensure you opt in to communications from the Watt-Club, Heriot-Watt’s Alumni association when you complete your graduation application form. The Student Records and Awards team will contact 2020 graduates directly via the personal email address we hold for you. In the meantime, you can get regular alumni updates via the LinkedIn group here.

As a global University, we already allow students to graduate at the ceremony location most convenient to you and your guests.  Therefore, you will be able to register to attend our ceremony at the campus location most convenient to where you live, and you can choose to attend any ceremony date for the next two years.  So, if the dates in November and December 2021 are not suitable to you, we will also be arranging additional ceremonies in June and July 2022 to mark the end of our bi-centennial celebrations.

Verifying your award

Heriot-Watt University subscribes to HEDD  – the Higher Education Degree Database.  This is a fast and secure way for future employers to verify, with your permission, your award online without you having to provide your certificate.
