Eligibility

Eligibility to graduate

It is essential in many cases to apply to graduate before you receive formal notification of your results online.  However, if you have made an application but do not subsequently receive an award decision you will not be eligible to graduate.

If you do not receive notification of your award by 7 June 2024 (23:59 UK Time), you will not graduate this Summer. Your application will automatically become void and you will be refunded for any monies paid to the University for tickets or postage.  It is not possible carry over applications, a new application should be submitted for the ceremony you become eligible for.  This also applies to applications to graduate in absentia.

The deadline date for applications is Friday 17 May 2024. Late applications will not be accepted.

Outstanding debt

Please make sure you settle any outstanding debts by Friday 10 May 2024.

Appealing against your award

If you submit an appeal following confirmation of your award, you will no longer be eligible to receive that award on the original award date you were notified of, even if you have applied to graduate.  This rule also applies if the appeal is concluded before the original award date.  Once the appeal has been concluded, you will be put forward to the next available award date.

For further information on how an appeal can impact on your graduation, please log an enquiry via the AskHWU tile on your Student Portal.
