Edinburgh Graduation ceremonies

Graduations are a highlight of the University experience but, due to the ongoing global pandemic, we regret to announce that we have taken the decision to rearrange our summer graduation ceremonies in Scotland, Dubai and Malaysia for later in 2020.  We are taking this step to protect the health and wellbeing of you, your family and our University community.

We are planning to hold additional ceremonies at the end of this year so, as part of our class of 2020, you will still be able to celebrate your successes together, to meet up with friends and cross the graduation stage in your academic gown.  But if that period isn’t convenient you will have the opportunity to attend any graduation ceremony in the next two years.

We will let you know once we have the alternative graduation dates for your subject and programme in each of our campus locations. As a global University, Heriot-Watt already allows graduates to attend whichever ceremony is most convenient, so you have the freedom to choose whichever location and date best suits you and your guests.

In the meantime, your graduation certificate will be delivered to you directly this summer. Please check the graduation website from 15th April for more information on when and how this will happen. You can also refer to the Higher Education Degree Datacheck - HEDD.  This is a fast and secure way for your future employers in any country to verify, with your permission, your degree award online without you having to provide your certificate.

Finally, I would like to share my disappointment at having to take this decision.  I look forward to seeing you at one of our future graduation ceremonies over the next two years.

Paul Travill, Academic Registrar - 2nd  April 2020
