Sean Lochrie

About

Dr Sean Lochrie is an Assistant Professor in Marketing at the Edinburgh Business School, Dubai campus. He is a member of the department’s leadership team, where he has taken up the role of Deputy Director of Learning and Teaching and the Undergraduate Dissertation Coordinator. He teaches Leisure Marketing, Research Philosophy and Practice, Managing the Service Experience, and Business Research Methods, and has supervises UG and PG student dissertations across a wide range of subject areas relating to marketing and management.

Biography

After completing his Master’s in research at the University of Strathclyde, Sean obtained a PhD in management at Heriot-Watt University, UK. His PhD research focused on developing stewardship behaviours among stakeholder networks in World Heritage Site Management. Throughout his academic career, the theme of heritage and tourism has been central to his research. This includes exploring stakeholder engagement at World Heritage Sites, Islamic tourism to Umrah, host sincerity towards tourists at the ancient Iranian village of Kandovan, and tourism development at the Tabriz bazaar.

Sean’s research interests focus on management and marketing perspectives within the tourism, leisure, and cultural heritage industries. He has published research in several journals including the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Journal of Marketing Management, Tourism Recreation Research, Journal of Travel & Tourism Marketing, International Journal of Tourism Research, and the Services Industries Journal. Sean has also written for industry publications on tourism in the United Arab Emirates, such as TravTalk.
