What do we do?
The Careers and Graduate Futures Service at Heriot-Watt University Dubai aims to assist students and graduates in making informed career choices by providing a professional, high-quality career guidance and information service.
We work closely with a wide range of organisations across different business sectors to ensure that students from all our academic Schools can access a wealth of relevant work experience, internships and graduate opportunities to support their readiness for life once they have completed their studies.

Throughout the academic year, we offer a variety of touch points for your organisation to engage with our students (both in-person and virtually) so that there is always an opportunity for you to get involved regardless of your business requirements.
Careers fairs & insight events
Careers Fairs and Insight Events are popular ways for employers to engage with our students:
Insight Events are mostly aimed at first and second year students to give them an introduction to the world of work by allowing organisations to speak about themselves, their industry and the process it takes to get their foot in the door.
Careers Fairs are mostly aimed at penultimate and final year students to make them aware of the work experience, internships and permanent positions available within your company. However, we also encourage earlier years to attend the fairs as a useful way to further develop their understanding of industry.
We run a number of sector-specific careers fairs and insight events throughout the academic year, which is a great way to raise your profile on campus.
Coronavirus information for employers
In light of the current situation, we are providing a range of opportunities for employers to engage with students and graduates via virtual events such as live webinars or skills sessions, Q&A sessions and video case studies. We are keen to share with students any updates on changes to recruitment practices that employers wish to provide. Employers can help us understand the impact COVID-19 is having on their organisation by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
You can also support our students by providing advice, hints and tips on applying for virtual roles, participating in virtual or telephone interviews, online assessment centres or working remotely.

We are continuing to plan our events programme as usual and, should the need arise, will put in place appropriate alternative formats to ensure that employers can continue to attract and engage with our students. Nevertheless, our new campus in Knowledge Park will allow us to carry out socially distanced events in person.
We will keep you up-to-date on our plans as things develop.

Guest Lectures: engage with students on a smaller scale, providing a perfect networking opportunity.
Skills Training Sessions: pay it forward by enhancing students’ expertise in your field so that they can hit the ground running when they start a role at your organisation.
Recruitment Roadshows: speed up your recruitment processes via face-to-face CV screening interviews with our students on campus.
Drop-In Sessions: setup a desk in our careers area and students passing by can drop-in to speak with you without the distractions of other company stands around you.
Targeted Emails & Newsletter: directly advertise any career related opportunities to our students via our fortnightly careers email & newsletter.
Advertise your vacancies
Our careers portal, GradFutures (powered by JobTeaser), is the perfect job platform to advertise your vacancies and enhance your company’s awareness amongst our students and alumni.
Here are the benefits of having a company profile on GRADFutures:
- Instantly upload vacancies/events onto the platform along with photos and videos.
- View the progress of vacancies/events online, seeing the number of views and applications.
- Autonomously modify, archive or even republish vacancies/events.
