The Careers and Graduate Futures Service at Heriot-Watt University Dubai aims to assist students and graduates in making informed career choices by providing a professional, high-quality career guidance and information service.

We work closely with a wide range of organisations across different business sectors to ensure that students from all our academic Schools can access a wealth of relevant work experience, internships and graduate opportunities to support their readiness for life once they have completed their studies.

Careers Portal

Our careers portal is the perfect, cost-free platform for your company to engage with our students and graduates. By creating a company profile, you’ll be able to:

• Autonomously upload and track the progress of job vacancies and events
• Receive student and graduate CVs to build up a candidate database
• Target specific courses and year groups (including graduates)
• Access students and graduates from all our campuses (Dubai, Malaysia and UK)

When hiring current students, please ensure you uphold your legal obligation to abide by Ministerial Decree 519 of 2018: Regulations on Training and Employment of Students which details requirements such as the length of employment, working hours, payment etc.

Employer events

Throughout the academic year, we offer a variety of touch points for your organisation to engage with our students and graduates so that there is always an opportunity for you to get involved regardless of your business requirements, such as:

• Careers Fairs – engage with hundreds of students and graduates from all backgrounds in one place and network with other professionals as multiple companies will have their own stand in the same room
• Workshops – deliver a hands-on practical session to develop specific skills of our students and graduates that will aid them in the workplace
• Careers in Focus Programme - Industry / Career area focused events offering students the chance to develop their awareness of career opportunities and challenges in their field of interest. View our Careers in Focus schedule for January semester 2025.
• Guest lectures – educate our students and graduates about any topic of your choice to help them learn more about your industry and how to work at your company
• Drop-ins – take over our careers centre to speak to students and graduates about your company, hiring process, and open roles, almost like a private careers fair

Marketing

We are happy to help your company advertise to our students and graduates to increase brand awareness and spread the word about job opportunities, events, and student discounts via our:

• Newsletter – dedicated careers email to students sent every 2 weeks
• Instagram – connect with us @hwudcareers
• Careers Centre – availability for physical and digital posters on our campus
