Dr Minu Mathews joined Heriot-Watt in August 2013 and is responsible for the delivery of a number of courses on the undergraduate programme. She is the global course-coordinator of the Health Psychology and Professional Practice course, which is her area of specialty, and Research Methods and Analysis 2.
Minu supervises student dissertations on a range of different topics. She also holds the position of Associate Director of Learning and Teaching and is responsible for all matters related to the learning, teaching and assessment of the school's taught provision on the Dubai campus.
She is also responsible for the development and implementation of the learning and teaching strategy in the School of Social Sciences (SoSS) on the Dubai campus. Her additional responsibilities include chairing the SoSS mitigating circumstances committee, representing the school on the Dubai Academic Council and the Dubai Learning and Teaching Enhancement Forum.
Minu was awarded her PhD in psychology from the University of Leeds, UK, in 2012. She joined Heriot-Watt University, Dubai in 2013 and is currently Assistant Professor of Psychology and Associate Director of Learning and Teaching in the School of Social Sciences. She is Global Course Coordinator of Health Psychology and Research Methods and Analysis 2, and teaches a range of other undergraduate courses as well as supervising student dissertations.
Dr Minu's research explores the impact of stress on health, work and wellbeing. She is particularly interested in examining cross-cultural factors that influence burnout.
