About

Dr Eric Nimako Aidoo is an Assistant Professor in Statistics in the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot Watt University, Dubai Campus. Dr Aidoo completed his PhD in Statistics at Edith Cowan University, Australia, and MSc in Statistics at Uppsala University, Sweden. Eric’s specialization includes Statistical Modelling, Categorical Data Analysis, Statistical Machine Learning, Geospatial Modelling, Time Series Analysis and Forecasting, Statistical Computing, Inference and Simulation. He is a member of International Statistical Institute, International Association for Statistical Computing, and International Biometric Society.

Biography

Prior to joining Heriot Watt University, Eric was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. He also worked as a Research Scientist at the Building and Road Research Institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ghana.

Eric has taught several statistics and mathematics causes including Further Topics in Regression Analysis, Time Series Analysis and Forecasting, Probability and Statistics, Calculus I, Statistical Methods, Regression Analysis, Nonparametric Statistics, Statistical Inference, Sample Survey, Spatial Statistics, and Probability Distributions. He currently teaches Probability and Statistics A & B, Bayesian Inference and Computational Methods.

Research

Eric’s research interest focuses on Applied Statistics, Statistical Modelling in Transportation, and Simulation-based Inference. He is active in interdisciplinary research with focus on solving real-world problems. He has been collaborating with colleagues in Transportation, Health, Environmental and Natural Sciences. Eric has co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles in reputable international journals. As an Assistant Professor in Statistics, he has trained and supervised several postgraduate and undergraduate students. He has also served as a reviewer for several international journals and as a resource person for training in several statistical data analysis workshops.
