About

Dr Cristina Turcanu is an Assistant Professor in the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot Watt University, Dubai Campus.

Completed her Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Master’s studies in Advanced Techniques in Information Processing and obtained a PhD degree in the field of Computer Science from University of Pitesti, Romania.

Dr. Cristina Turcanu worked for over 15 years in several multinational companies in the Tech Industry, having a diverse and extensive background in both information technology and quality assurance, complemented by a significant experience in the education sector.

The academic and research interests are focused on testing and validation techniques applied in software engineering. In addition to this, eCommerce technologies, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Process Mining and Process Automation, Process Modelling and Knowledge Management are included.

Some of the courses taught include Software Development, e-Commerce Technologies, Digital and Knowledge Economy, Praxis, Knowledge Management.

Biography

Academic Leadership and Affiliations:

She is a Fellow of the Advanced HE (Higher Education), obtaining her Post Graduate Certification in Teaching and Learning (PGCert - TL) from Heriot-Watt University. She is an ambassador of Technovation – global tech education nonprofit that empowers girls to become leaders, creators and problem-solvers.
