About

Dr Batikha is an Assistant Professor of Structural Engineering for the Civil Engineering programme. He is also the Associate Director of research for the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society. In 2020, Dr Batikha also took on the role of Editor for the Centre of Excellence in Smart of Construction (CESC) Research Bulletin.

Biography

Dr Batikha received his PhD in Structural Engineering from Edinburgh University in 2008. He completed his BSc and MSc in Structural Engineering from Damascus University in 1993 and 1998, respectively, and was a full-time faculty for Damascus University from 1994-2015. He is also a Consultant Engineer at the Syrian Engineer’s Syndicate of Damascus. Over the years, he’s been an active member of several professional bodies, including the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), the International Institute for FRP in Construction (IIFC), the national training team at the Syrian Engineers Syndicate and the Teachers’ Syndicate of Damascus.

Research

His research interests include Non-Linear analysis and modeling of structures under different loading scenarios, rehabilitation and strengthening of structures, working on bridges and tall buildings, sustainable concrete and 3D concrete printing.
