Heather Garner is Assistant Professor for the Degree Entry Programme at Heriot-Watt University Dubai.

Biography

Heather Garner earned her Master of Arts in English in 2013 from Jacksonville State University (JSU), located in Jacksonville, Alabama, U.S.A. She worked as a public relations writer at JSU from 2012 to 2017 and began working as an adjunct English lecturer in 2014 at Gadsden State Community College, located in Gadsden, Alabama, U.S.A. In 2017, she joined the English department at JSU as a full-time instructor, teaching Developmental English, English Composition, American Literature, and Oral Composition courses. In January 2020, she relocated to Dubai and began working with the Degree Entry Programme (DEP) at Heriot-Watt University in the fall of 2020. She has served as a personal tutor and teaches Academic English and Approaches to Learning courses. After working with the DEP as an adjunct lecturer, she has recently joined the full-time teaching staff at Heriot-Watt University as an Assistant Professor of Academic English and Approaches to Learning.  

Publications

She received the Guiding Hand Award at the Heriot-Watt Oscars for her work as a personal tutor during the 2021-2022 school year.
