About
At Heriot-Watt University, Syed teaches design research, design thinking, editorial design, typography, motion graphics, film editing, branding, advertising, UI/UX design, and information visualisation to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
With more than eighteen years of experience, he has worked with leading design studios and branding agencies in the UK, India, and the MENA region. His expertise ranges from design strategy to consultancy and curation, reflecting a diverse and comprehensive skill set.

Research
Syed's research considers the relationship between pictograms and the representation of abstract concepts. He is the creator of PCSoRT: Pictogram Communication System of Religious Tolerance—a computer-mediated pictogram communication system that can serve as a tool to promote religious tolerance on social networking sites.
