HWUM Psychology Programmes - Fully Accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS)

The undergraduate psychology programmes at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) are now fully accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Programmes accredited by the BPS have met rigorous criteria, providing an important indicator of quality that is recognised by employers in the field. Graduates of BPS accredited undergraduate programmes are eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the society. This is a requirement for students who are looking to progress to become a Chartered Psychologist after graduation.

Heriot-Watt is truly a global university, so it is fitting for our Psychology programmes in Malaysia to be accredited by a world-leading organisation. The BPS maintains very strict standards for accreditation, which are rightly considered by many to be the ‘gold standard’ for psychological education, not just in the UK, but internationally. This outcome is a testament to the quality of our programmes and their delivery, and will directly enhance the employment prospects of our students

The BPS accredited undergraduate programmes being offered at HWUM are the BSc (Hons) Psychology and the BSc (Hons) Psychology with Management, both of which equip students with an understanding of human behaviour and the skills to apply their knowledge to promote an inclusive and productive society. Our programmes cover the core domains of psychology, namely biological psychology, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, individual differences, conceptual and historical issues in psychology, and research methods. Teaching and assessment emphasise the application of these core domains to real world issues, and enhance transferable employability skills such as numerical and computer literacy, communication and teamwork. 

These programmes are offered during our January intake, in addition to our usual September intake.
