Psychology is the scientific study of the relationship between mind and behaviour. The psychology component of the programme (70%) covers the core domains of psychology, namely biological psychology, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, individual differences, social psychology, conceptual and historical issues in psychology, and research methods. The management component of the programme (30%) introduces a range of topics that are relevant to workplace psychology such as consumer behaviour, marketing, human resource management and project management. Teaching and assessment emphasises application to real world issues, and enhances transferable employability skills such as numerical and computer literacy, communication and teamwork. 

This programme is offered with a September and January intake.

Our psychology with management graduates have a strong record of employment in business management, marketing, human resources, coaching, academic research and teaching, to name but a few. 

 

Your student experience

Teaching methods range from lectures, tutorial classes and mentor sessions, to computer-based laboratory activities supported by group and individual projects. Assessment is by examination, coursework, presentations, group project and individual project, the balance being appropriate to the different teaching methods used in the courses.

      Entry requirements

      We have standard entry requirements for all of our courses that you will have to meet.

      Year 1
      • Heriot-Watt University Malaysia Foundation in Business or Science: Pass and eligible to receive the award
      • A-Level: CCC
      • STPM: GPA 2.00 for 3 subjects
      • UEC: 20 points or less (5 subjects not less than B grade)
      • IB Diploma: 25 points for 6 subjects
      • WACE/SACE: ATAR 70
      • Ontario Secondary School Diploma: 70%
      • Foundation: CGPA with 3.0
      • China Senior High School Graduation Certificate: 80%
      • India Senior School Certificate/Class XII: 70%
      • Indonesia SMA 3: 75%

      Note:

      In addition to the entry requirements listed above, applicants must have grade C in Mathematics and Science at SPM/ IGCSE level or equivalent. This requirement can be waived if applicants have obtained at least grade pass in Mathematics and Science at a higher level.

      English language requirements

      If your first language is not English, we'll need to see evidence of your English language ability.

      The minimum English language requirement for entry to this programme is IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) with no score lower than 5.5.

      If you do not have IELTS 6.0, we offer a range of English language courses to help you meet the English language requirement for this programme prior to commencing your studies.
