Leonard Horner

Leonard was a Scottish merchant, geologist and co-founder of the School of Arts, now Heriot-Watt University. As a commissioner reporting on the employment of children in factories, he arguably did more to improve the working conditions of women and children in northern England than any other person in the 19th century.
