Student Advisors

If you belong to a cohort listed below, you will have a Student Advisor and an Academic Advisor to support you during your studies.

Your Student Advisor is your named contact for pastoral & wellbeing support, and general queries. Your Academic Advisor is your named contact for programme-specific learning and teaching queries.

Cohorts with Student Advisors and Academic Advisors:

  • EGIS: UG Year 1 and Year 4 in Biology, Sports & Exercise Science, Geography & Urban Studies; PGT in all disciplines.
  • EPS: UG Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Combined Studies; PGT in all disciplines.
  • Global College: All students (except Pre-sessional English)
  • MACS: UG Computer Science Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3; PGT Computer Science.
  • SoSS: UG and PGT in EBS; PGT Psychology; Combined Studies
  • SoTD: UG students

What can my Student Advisor help with?

Your Student Advisor can help with:

  • navigating your study journey and staying on track
  • notifying the University if you have a problem that could impact your studies, including support to apply for Mitigating Circumstances (MC)
  • understanding your options for changing course, taking a break from study (TSS), or leaving the University
  • general guidance on programme regulations, progression and award requirements
  • advice on which university teams or service to contact about your issue

How to contact your Student Advisor

If you are struggling with an issue that is affecting your studies, book an appointment with your Student Advisor as soon as possible. They will help you take steps to stay on track.

Your Student Advisor will make contact with you at the start of the academic year and reach out to you again at key points during your studies.

What can my Academic Advisor help with?

Your Academic Advisor can help with:

  • subject content, course choice and programme choice within a discipline
  • assessment and reassessment
  • discipline-specific guidance for accreditation, career development, and further graduate studies
  • academic integrity in learning and teaching
  • academic references
