On behalf of the school (EGIS), we would like to thank The Institution of Civil Engineer Student Chapter (ICE SC) committees in Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) which has successfully hosted the Newspaper Bridge Challenge (NBC 2023) on Saturday1 April . This event was jointly organised by ICE SC from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR).
The event was participated by a total of 14 groups which consist of four to five students from seven different universities namely HWUM, UTAR, Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Monash University Malaysia, INTI International University, UCSI University and University Malaya (UM).
A specification was been given ahead to the groups and the model was built and tested on that day. Thanks to all the six judges from both industries and universities who had a tough time evaluated all the design. The Champion, from UM took home RM1,000 and a trophy with them. First runner up was also by UM and second runner up by Monash University Malaysia. Thank you to the sponsors Arup, Tony Gee and Partners Sdn Bhd, and Eco Sewerage Sdn Bhd for your generosity in making this event successful.
