BHC Visits HWUM 2023

Her Excellency Ailsa Terry CMG, the British High Commissioner to Malaysia, visited Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) on 23 November 2023. She was graciously welcomed by Professor Mushtak Al-Atabi, HWUM Provost and Chief Executive Officer, and Professor Ted Henry, Deputy Provost.

Also present during the visit were Janice Yew, Chief Operating Officer and Registrar; Hiew Kwee Sen, Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Head of Finance; Dr David Barron, Head of Research and Enterprise; Dr Ian Tan, Head of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, Jason Chan, Head of Student Recruitment and Admissions, and Ryan Koh, President of the HWUM Student Association.

They had an engaging and far-reaching conversation where she was introduced to the institution’s vibrant community and dedication to quality and purpose-driven education while touching on crucial climate change topics.

The discussion ended with a photo session to commemorate the High Commissioner’s visit and the beginning of a new bond. Ms Terry also took this opportunity to get a short tour of the campus facilities, especially the Tan Sri (Dr) Yeoh Tiong Lay Library, before bidding farewell.

Ms Terry recently took up the post of British High Commissioner to Malaysia in August, succeeding Charles Hay MVO.
