European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers

The European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) is a global professional, not-for-profit association for geoscientists and engineers with more than 19,000 members worldwide. It provides a global network of commercial and academic professionals to all members. The association is truly multi-disciplinary and international in form and pursuits.

All members of EAGE are professionally involved in (or studying) geophysics, petroleum exploration, geology, reservoir engineering, mining and mineral exploration, civil engineering, tunnelling and environmental matters. EAGE operates two divisions: the Oil & Gas Geoscience Division and the Near Surface Geoscience Division.

The Heriot Watt Student Chapter

The EAGE Student Chapter at Heriot Watt University (HWU) is sponsored by the Edinburgh Time-Lapse Project (ETLP). The chapter was established in 2010.

The Student Chapter aims to:

  • Connect students at the university with a global network of geoscientists and engineers
  • Organize educational events to strengthen knowledge, skills, and network of the students
  • Increase the university's involvement in the EAGE community (paper submissions for workshops, conferences, journals, participation in student activities, etc.)
  • Provide potential EAGE volunteers (committee members for events, EAGE lecturers, etc.)

We usually host the pre-set activities by EAGE such as Geo-Quiz, Webinars, Student Lecturer Tours, Field Challenges, or the annual EAGE conference & Exhibition.

Additionally, we have organized discussion sessions on the E-lectures that are available through the EAGE channel covering a wide range of topics in geosciences.

Also, we always try to keep the Chapter fresh and dynamic, all the new ideas for activities in the EAGE student chapter are very welcome.
