Training and support for RDM

Support for research data management (RDM) at Heriot-Watt is provided via School staff, with further advice from relevant professional services.

A Research Data Management Working Group, chaired by Stuart Macgregor, is working to create and adapt policies, procedures and services to support RDM.   The group has representitives from professional services and Schools.

As a first point of contact, you should contact staff within the School for advice:

Academic members of staff who can provide advice and are a channel for providing information to and from the Research Data Management Working Group.  Contact open.researchdata@hw.ac.uk for details.

Information on  Research Data Management is available from a number of sources:

The Digital Curation Centre - guidance on all aspects of RDM.    Provides the DMPOnline tool for creating data management plans

Mantra Research Data Management Training - provided by the University of Edinburgh

Coursera MOOC (Massive Open Online Course), Research Data Management and Sharing  - a development of the above training, produced in collaboration with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Course will go live on 1st March 2016.
