Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr David Barron as the Director of Research and Enterprise, effective 1 July 2023.
Dr Barron is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Psychology, School of Social Sciences, and brings with him a wealth of experience in research administration.
Prior to joining HWUM, Dr Barron worked at Perdana University as the Deputy Director and Reader in the Centre for Psychological Medicine.
He also has teaching and psychology technician experience from his time at the University of Westminster, as well as research assistant experience at the University of Strathclyde. Dr Barron holds a BA (Hons) in Psychology and an MRes. Research Methods from the University of Strathclyde. He obtained his PhD from the University of Westminster, focusing his research on schizotypy.
In addition to his academic achievements, Dr Barron is a frequent speaker at international conferences and has made appearances on television and radio programmes to discuss his research.
He is also a prominent science communicator and author, with experience in television, radio, and digital and print media. Dr Barron's expertise and leadership will greatly contribute to advancing the research and enterprise agenda for our Malaysia campus.
