Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) recently celebrated Chinese New Year with its community via various activities.
All staff gathered to toss a prosperous Chinese New Year ‘Yee Sang', enjoyed a sumptuous buffet spread and witnessed a prize-giving ceremony to the winners of two competitions that were held – Origami and Calligraphy. Prizes were presented by Professor Mushtak Al-Atabi, Provost and Chief Executive Officer of HWUM.
Origami Winners:
- 1st Place: Freddie Lim – Accounts Receivable
- 2nd Place: Izzati Baharuddin – Human Resources
- 3rd Place: Chew Kuan Yee – Finance
Calligraphy Winners:
- 1st Place: Erin Lim – Heriot-Watt Global College
- 2nd Place: Mindy Lim – Timetabling & Examinations
- 3rd Place: Siti Mazlina Mohd Marzuki – Human Resources
HWUM Student Association (HWUMSA) also organised a ‘Lion Dance' performance that performed at the Malaysia campus Plaza. The lion dance performance is a performance dating back to more than 1,500 years for auspicious occasions, and believed to bring good fortune and wealth.
