About

Rachel Whittington is the key library contact for staff and students in the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences (MACS). Rachel is also part of the Effective Learning Service and provides support in this area to all UK and Distance Learning students. Rachel teaches information skills and study skills aligned to the curriculum and as part of the University’s Skills Hub workshops.  She also provides a one-to-one appointment/ consultancy service for information and study skills advice; deals with enquiries relating to study skills and advanced enquiries relating to the use of library resources; and liaises with MACS staff to ensure the library’s collections and services support the needs of MACS teaching, learning and research. Rachel is also part of the Information Services Communications Group and Library Collection Configuration Project. 

Rachel has an MA in Information and Library Management. She is a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy, and a member of Scottish Higher Education Learner Developers (ScotHELD) and the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP).
