Welcome Week

Welcome Week (8 to 12 January 2024) is our opportunity to introduce you, as a new student, to the University and to help you prepare for your studies. We hope that by the end of the week you feel as prepared and as confident as you can be about what happens next.

Your participation in Welcome Week is vital. This is your first week at University, so don't miss it. During Welcome Week there are certain things you must do, such are taking part in your induction programme.  You find the details of your induction programme on your induction site on Canvas (Heriot-Watt's virtual learning environment).  There will be induction sessions on campus, so take a note of the days, time and venues.  You can use the campus maps for Edinburgh, Scottish Borders and Orkney to find where to go for your induction.  You will also need to have your ID checked and pick up your student card so you can complete your enrolment. There are other lots of activities during Welcome Week such as those organised by the Student Union, Sports Union, Student Wellbeing Services and the Chaplaincy (for people of all religious beliefs or no religious belief).
