COMMENT

Random Quotes

"If we act collectively we have the chance to create a digital library environment that we control, and which will suit our users much better than the one which Googlezon threatens to provide. We can give our learning and research communities much better tools and much stronger content than Googlezon will ever manage, since it can ultimately only be a toy of consumer markets. We have a mission which runs deeper, with values based upon the activity of research - and learning led by research - that is not dependent upon the state of the stock market nor led by the entertainment industry." John MacColl, extract from a UKEiG presentation, 21 June 2005, CILIP, London. Quoted in eLucidate Vol 2, Issue 5, September/October 2005.

NICE WEB SITE

In the course of finding sites of interest for this Newsletter, we sometimes come across Web sites which we feel deserve slightly more than a passing mention. Each month we will pick out one or more such sites, and give them a short review. The sites will normally be UK based, may be small or large, and be of interest or potential interest to academics. After lengthy discussions we have decided, with incredible creativity :-), to call these: Nice Web Sites. Details of previous Nice Web Sites are available in the Nice Web Site Archive.

There are a number of sites in this issue which merit the Nice Website tag:
